Computed tomography (CT) is a method of body imaging in which a thin x-ray beam rotates around the patient. Small detectors measure the amount of x-rays that make it through the particular area of interest. The scan is complete within 20-40 seconds. Radiation exposure for these scans is very minimal. You will not have to refrain from eating or drinking. The only thing you will have to do is remove any metal which includes rings, necklaces, metal partial ect. Its as simple as you just sitting there.
The purpose for the CT Scan is that the doctor may see your bone level. We then produce a duplicate of your jaw. With this duplicate the doctor is able to see how much bone you have and were the best area is to place an implant or if bone needs to be added. It makes your procedure alot more comfortable. |
